IT Audit Intern (Fall 2026, Full-time Hours)
This fall opportunity is 14 weeks long from late-August to early-December. It is full-time hours meaning that interns will work approximately 40 hours a week during normal business hours, Monday - Friday. Students usually take a semester off for a commitment like this.
What You Will Do:
In this internship, you will have the opportunity to be part of the IT Internal Audit team at Transamerica working on real business problems. The successful candidate will be available to work full-time throughout the fall semester, allowing them to take the knowledge from the classroom and apply it to a real-world setting. You will build relationships with key leaders and team members in all areas of finance and accounting.
Responsibilities:
Working collaboratively across teams and departments.
Participates in audits of systems and IT processes.
Focus of audits are based on expected and actual controls over systems and IT processes.
Prepares timely work papers that detail the results of work.
Communicates audit progress to fellow team members and leaders.
Effectively evaluates risks/impacts associated with identified technologies and processes.
Proactively identifies unique problems and seeks help to resolve, if necessary.
Responsible for adherence to the company's framework of internal controls.
Learning Outcomes:
Gain exposure to Information Systems audit standards (COBIT and COSO).
Develop knowledge in IT and Audit experiences with Mainframe, Databases, UNIX, Client Server Systems, Telecommunications, Firewalls, Intrusion Detection & Information Security.
Develop an understanding of IT risk.
Collaborate with a team of experts while learning about the financial services and IT audit industry.
Qualifications:
To qualify for an internship, applicants must be currently enrolled at a college or university pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Management Information Systems (MIS) or within Accounting, Finance, or Business and minoring in MIS or another technical program. Internships are not available for students who have completed their college education or who will graduate prior to the conclusion of the internship.
Strong written & verbal communications communication skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Detailed-oriented.
Working knowledge of Microsoft suite of products.
Familiar with technical concepts related to mainframes, databases, and information security a plus.
Working Conditions:
Interns will work hybrid in Cedar Rapids, IA
Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday will be in office; Monday and Friday will be work from home days.

Compensation:
The salary for this position is $21.00 per hour. Please note that the salary range is a good faith estimate for this position and actual starting pay is determined by several factors including qualifications, experience, geography, work location designation (in-office, hybrid, remote) and operational needs. Salary may vary above and below the stated amounts, as permitted by applicable law. Full-time interns will receive an intern allowance to cover costs of relocation including housing, mileage, and travel expenses.
