Director of Data Governance
Responsibilities
- Define policies, standards and frameworks for Data Management and Artificial Intelligence to maintain customer trust and regulatory compliance. Review and enhancing in line with emerging technical capabilities and regulations
- Work with Business Units to support, drive and monitor the implementation of Data Management (covering Data Quality, Metadata and Masterdata Management)
- Support and oversee Business Unit Artificial Intelligence governance processes
- Own and perform the Global Policy attestation process for Data Management and Generative AI, including review, challenge and sign-off of status and action plans to comply with policies. The outcomes of these are presented to the Board.
- Define and embed an ethical AI framework across the Group
- Embed and mature Data Governance for key TA Enterprise functions
- Implement and run an effective and efficient data governance model working with data owners, stewards, and users in Corporate Centre to create clarity about their data responsibilities
- Work with other data related functions, privacy, security, and IT to help drive the strategic use, control, and management of data, aligning with them on standards, tooling, and approaches
- Establish relationships and influence key stakeholders, at a senior level, across the Group
- Support the Global Chief Data Officer set the vision and embed within the data and analytics teams across the Group
- Represent the Data Function in key senior forums (senior executive forums such as Risk and IT Boards)
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., Computer Science, Data Science, Information Management, Economics, Engineering) or equivalent experience
- 10+ years of experience in relevant domains or equivalent
- Subject matter expertise in data management, including regulatory compliance and value creation, with proven experience defining data policies and standards
- Experience of implementing Artificial Intelligence governance and control processes
- Demonstrated success in managing international stakeholders
- Experienced leader with vision, energy, and intellect to connect and engage CDO’s and stakeholders in a complex international environment
- Strong understanding of data value creation, technology innovation and digitization
- Ability to communicate complex data concepts to diverse audiences across the organization
- Ability to build relationships, fostering collaboration across disciplines, and influencing strategic outcomes
- Ability to navigate ambiguity and facilitate/support change
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of and implementation experience with data management industry standards such as DAMA DMBOK
- Strong understanding of AI technologies, including experience in establishing policies and controls for responsible AI deployment
- Experience of working at Aegon, Transamerica or a similar global organization.
Working Conditions
- Hybrid Office Environment: (Cedar Rapids (Iowa), Philadelphia, Denver)
- Hybrid office/remote environment also an option
- Some international travel may be required to meet with team and global functional leaders
Compensation
- The Salary for this position generally ranges between $170,000 - $210,000 annually. Please note that the salary range is a good faith estimate for this position and actual starting pay is determined by several factors including qualifications, experience, geography, work location designation (in-office, hybrid, remote) and operational needs. Salary may vary above and below the stated amounts, as permitted by applicable law.
- Additionally, this position is typically eligible for an Annual Bonus based on the Company Bonus Plan/Individual Performance and is at the Company’s discretion.

This is a hybrid position requiring three days in office per week in one of our hub locations (Cedar Rapids (Iowa), Philadelphia, Denver). Relocation assistance will not be provided for this position.
